Energy Assessments: the smart place to start
Energy Smart Colorado at 4CORE
4CORE manages Energy Smart Colorado, providing FREE home energy assessments as well as generous rebates for weatherization and electrification projects. .
A home energy assessments is usually the best place to start. A certified energy analyst will assess your entire home and identify opportunities to make more efficient through air sealing, insulation, efficient appliances, and more. We can then connect you with local contractors and provide access to rebates and financing options, making it easy and affordable to upgrade your energy systems.

1) Get a Home or Business Energy Assessment
The Home Energy Assessment is typically valued at $550, but is subsidized by 4CORE, the City of Durango, and our utility partners.
We can now offer FREE energy assessments for:
City of Durango residents (thanks to a partnership with the city)
La Plata County Residents
Atmos natural gas customers
If you don’t fall into any of these categories, we may still be able to offer you a free assessment or low cost assessment. Reach out to Molly@fourcore.org to find out.
This assessment includes:
A blower test and infrared photo analysis to analyze leakage in the home.
Combustion safety analysis- boiler or furnace check to assess the risk of carbon monoxide.
Gas line leak detection- gas line check for leaks inside and outside of the home.
2) Review your Energy Report
Your analyst will provide a comprehensive report outlining the most economical and energy efficient upgrades as well as any safety concerns they identified. The report includes detailed photos of the areas discussed and specific recommendations in order of importance and value.
3) Apply for Rebates or Financing
We’ll help you secure rebates and financing to make your home more efficient and comfortable. Current rebates include:
Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) through the Colorado Energy Office for households under the Area Median Income (AMI)
Energy Smart Colorado Rebates - $2000 towards weatherization and insulation projects recommended in your home energy assessment AND $2000 toward electrification.

REBATES!
Income-qualified Rebates
The HEAR Program - Up to $14,000 in rebates for households making under 150% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
Example: Up to $8000 toward a heat pump and additional rebates for heat pump hot water heaters, induction stoves, electrical upgrades, and insulation.
The Energy Smart Colorado Rebates - Up to $2000 toward weatherization and up to $2000 toward electrification upgrades identified in an Energy Smart home energy assessment. Households must be a Community Priority Participant - see qualifications to the right.
La Plata Electric Association - Rebates are twice as much for households under 150% AMI.
